I fear that this may have something to do with system overheating. When Im playing games, (gfx card and processor, more work, heats up) my PC will shut down. This has never happened before. When I play games, I put my hand on the power supply and its getting pretty hot. Then lo and behold, my PC turns off. I used a special vacuum cleaner to suck all the dirt and dust out of the PC thinking it would help. It didn't. I've performed full system checkups, defrags, adware scans, and virus scans and nothing shows up on the reports, so I've concluded that its something with the hardware. Im open to any suggestions.

Check that the fan is running on the power supply.

Open the case & use a regular oscillating fan, pointed right inside, as you play. You'll soon know if that's the issue or not.

Start with that & post back,

Mom

Well, my friend also suspected the power supply may have been the problem. So, I changed it to another that I had. If this one works it'll be the PSs unit. Thanks for the tip.

And "emad" has successfully hijacked this topic by accident...

If you say you cleaned out all of the dust, then it could be one of your fans might just be nearing the end of its life. Or, could just be seizing intermittingly and causing the PC to overheat.

You could try running your PC with the cover off and set up a household fan and have that blowing straight into the case.

Well, I know now that it's not a problem with the Power Supply, because my PC shut down again with the new one in. So I guess it's a problem with ventilation.

#1, I don't want a fan blowing into my computer, nor do I have room for it in my desk.

#2, I don't want to have my computer facing out, I'm afraid of my bird doing something to it or a static shock ruining it.

#3, My computer is also a foot rest, and if I turn it, it is no longer a foot rest.

#4, I'm afraid I'll kick something and ruin it.

#5, I'm psychotic and will fantasize the most horrible but not possible things that could happen to it.

#6, I would like to know if a Chassie Fan would help.
