computer shuts down and reboots on its own

Specs: Windows XP
Windows XP, Compaq Presario (2003 about, quite old but didn't do that untill last week..)

Often Running an external disk to work on music projects in Nuendo 4(kinda craked) or Cubase LE(licensed)

Started occuring apparently after mixing session when my kid turned off the computer while running an extensive mix (two to tree plugins on every track - about 18 tracks..Nuendo 4)

processor 1,67 GHz, 30 gig hard drive, 1 gig ram approx.

when I turn it on it shuts off by itself a couple times, and if I insist I will get it to stay "on", run it for about an hour or two(could be more), and keep it working all the while, if I get away from it a minute or so, it can often shut down on its own.. plenty of fun right now, but not so much good fun!?!?!?!

Someone can help with this issue??

Get back please

lots of things cause this. Bad RAM, faulty power supply (likely and not to much $$), and overheating...are all fans working well especially the one on the powersupply and cpu?
