Computer shut down and now it wont boot up.

Specs: Windows XP
I was on the net last night and Microsoft Essentials prompted me with a problem. I acted on the promp. When I did my computer shut down completely. Now it wont boot up. When I start it up it shows that it's a Shuttle brand as usual then it shows Microsoft XP then it goes strait to a black screen. I even tried reinstalling XP but the CD ROM drives won't even run the disk. It sounds like it's going to run but then it stops. I've removed the CMOS battery and even tried taking out the processor and putting everything back together but nothing seems to work. Someone please help me. All my files, music, family photo's etc are on this drive.

Enter the bios and check that the boot option is set to the hard drive first. Then exit and select save the settings and see what happens.
