Computer screen won't turn on

December 28, 2009 at 05:21:51
Specs: Windows XP
Ok, I have a Toshiba satellite A-105, I was working on the RAM card and was very careful. I tried not to scratch and I put it back in. After I tried to turn my Laptop back on and the screen was black. There was no beep, but I could see a little change in the screen but it stays black the whole time. Its very irritating because I know my HDD is borked. The power switch stays green and it does not smell burnt. Can anyone help me please.

Are you saying you removed the RAM stick, then re-installed it - and now the laptop won't work?

When you removed the RAM... did you ensure that not only was there no mains power going into the laptop, but that you also removed the battery? This to really ensure that there was no power at all in the laptop when going inside it...

And have you tried to remove and then re-install the RAM stick (card)?

And what does this mean: "...I know my HDD is borked..."?
