My computer wil restart during game play sometimes, but most after about thirty minutes into game play, the computer will lock. A few minutes after the game locks, an error message will appear saying "Windows has encountered a problem with the game and needs to close". I get this everytime i play a game on my computer. I'm running a GeForce 4 MX420 64MB card and I've already gotten the latest drivers. I can't seem to figure out what the problem could be. I've tried almost everything. I thought that it might've been a virus at first, and tried many different virus scan programs with the results all the same saying there were no infections. I'm running an out-of-the-box MSI motherboard. An AMD Athalon 1GHz processor, and 256MB pc100 SDRAM. I use onboard audio AC 97'. I also have a 60GB western digital harddrive. D-Link network card. 350 watt power supply. Windows XP Professional. I put my computer together step by step, and one thing at a time. The installation went fine, but after about a couple weeks or so, the games started to lock, and the comp. restarts. Please help.

how hot is it running? if it happened over a couple of weeks, it's possible that when setting your computer up, you applied too much thermal compound to the die of your processor. when you do this, it makes the system get hotter over time. you should check your bios to see how hot your processor is running. if it's too hot, you can cool your system down considerably just by adding a case fan or too.
