Hi my computer keeps starting at the windows screen. The option to choose safe mode, last known windows configuration etc... screen comes up but using the keyboard you cant select anything. The keyboard works fine however because it allows me to go into the bios. ive tried pressing F8 multiple times to go to safe mode but that wont work either. ive also changed the settings in the bios to boot from the cd-rom to run xp recovery console but when the screen comes up and says press any key to boot from cd-rom, you press any key and nothing happens it just goes straight back to the screen 'boot from last configuration' etc... can anyone help me. it just keeps looping and restarting and wont let me choose any options on the screen. only the bios works. im running windows xp pro.

It certainly would be useful if you could provide some near-essential details, like: • when did this start, and what preceded this? • what type of keyboard connection: PS/2? USB? etc. • have you checked the connection? • does the keyboard work on another computer? • does another keyboard work on this computer? • is this a home-built? an OEM? a laptop? • etc.

its a desktop computer that was bought from a computer shop. its fairly old. and yes the keyboard works and i have tried other keyboards aswell but with no luck. its a USB connection. it started doing this yesterday. ive taken it to the computer shop. they think its a virus so i just have to wait. thanks anyway.
