June 17, 2009 at 07:28:35
Specs: Windows XP
Ok last month we had my brother in law update our computer BUT ever since it restarts itself with no warning and whenever it wants. I never know when its going to happen. I have a Compaq presario 5000 we are running XP. He installed another fan and a DVDram and reinstalled windows. Sometimes when it restarts it goes to a black screen telling me an error accord I try to put it into safe mode but I cant it gives me the options but nothing works I cant choose an option. Can someone help me out?

Thank you

start > control panel > admin tools > event viewer and check all the log files for errors. Click on the error and read the discription of what it says and re-post it in this thread!

"The PCASp50 NDIS Protocol driver service failed to start due to following error, System cannont find the file specified"

This is what most of the errors are the other ones are errors with the antivirus program because of all the shut downs. My computer is not running hot and the automatic shutdown option is off but its still shutting down. Could this be the power supply? There was one time when it did this but kept going on and off so I unplugged it for about 5 minutes went to turn it back on the green power light was on for a second than it started blinking red.

I would run a virus scan on your computer and remove the items it finds.
