Ok, so my comptuer seems to like rebooting itself whenever it feels like it. I dont know what the deal is. There doesn't seem to be a pattern, however it does seems to do it slightly more when playing a video game. It also seemed to do it a lot when I was burning DVD's (which needless to say was a headache). It does it I'd say once every two weeks. But it can also happen 3 times in one day. There is really no pattern, it can do it while just sitting on the desktop.

Here are the specs:

-Pentium 4 2.8GHz
-512MB Ram
-128MB ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
-SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum
-Windows XP Home Edition

I don't know what other specs you might need. Anyone with any info please help? Thanks.

Check for viruses first. Then check for spyware and adware (unlikely cause but maybe). Then check for trojans. Make sure you have some sort of firewall installed too.

Open your Control Panel and switch to classic view and then double click System icon and choose the advanced tab, the third category down is "startup and recovery" Click the settings button and untick "automatically restart" click ok and ok. the next time the error happens you should get an error message which will then make it easier for you to track down the problem.
Good Luck.

when this happened to my last computer I replaced the power supply and the fans. It solved the problem.

good luck.

also maybe there is an IRQ conflict with the video card, you said it restarts when high intensity graphics are used.....check it out.
