Hi Hope you can help
I have a computer setup for the family to use and it started doing wierd things like making noises and shutting down. then sometimes it would not start up, I replaced the PSU but this did not solve the problem, when power is on the light on the mobo is lit showing that power is getting to the mobo, does anyone know why it is not starting??
cheers

It's the On/Off switch. Remove the wires to see if you can start the unit by connecting them together.
This is a common problem when a group of people are turning the unit on.

Could you be having a problem with your hard drive? Find another computer running windows XP with a similar hard drive and pop it into the machine to see how it works. That way, you can rule out if its a Power Supply issue or if its a Hard Drive issue. In the end though, it could end up being a motherboard issue but unlikely.
