I'm having this problem with this computer. When an application is running all of a sudden the computer crashes and reboots on its on. I held down the button for it to completely shut down. When I started the computer back up, it will boot up. Then it will go to the the screen that reads "start windows normally." I would press enter to start it normally. It will boot up all the way until it gets to the Windows XP loading screen then it will start all over again booting up. After several times of trying to get it to work, it will finally work for about a good 30 min. and it will begin to do the same thing all over again. I tried to boot it up using "Last Known Good Configuration" and it will hang at the Windows XP loading screen. I went into the event log and noticed that there were errors the errors that I seen were as follows:

User: FPL-W0564\Administrator

Description:

Hi. I'm not an expert, but it sounds like you have some kind of virus or trojan. Can you boot up in Safe Mode? I would suggest running your AV program from there, and maybe it will be able to find it, since you can't get all the way up in windows. Another possibility would be to have it boot up in diagnostic mode, letting you see the files as they load. Then you might be able to find which one is hosing it up. I'm sure others will have better ideas. Good luck!

Bob

A positive attitude won't solve all your problems, but it will annoy just enough people to be worth the effort.
