My computer keeps on freezing a lot. It just seems to freeze randomly, even when windows boots up. It freezes if I have no programs running too. I've tried it with Windows ME and Win2k and it freezes with them as well. It's getting to a point where I am ready throw it from the top of a building. I don't know what could be wrong. Here are my specs:
WinXP Pro 1.7GHz Pentium Celeron SiS315 54MB Video Card 30GB Maxtor HDD 512 MB SDRam (Don't know what kind) Realtek RTL8029(AS) PCI Ethernet Adapter PC400 Systemboard M920 series 300 watt power supply VIA AC'97 PCI Sound card

Sounds as though you have a hardware problem here rather than O/S software issue.
A quick way to eliminate hardware - next time the PC hangs, press any key on your keyboard for a minimun of 17 times. If your PC beeps at every keystroke after the 17th time, then you know your PC hanging is a result of a software problem. If you do not hear the beep, then you know you have a hardware issue.
Hope this narrows down your problem a bit.

Might be over heating. Make sure all your fans are working. Make sure CPU & heatsink are attached properly. Could be bad power supply.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I've tried doing the 17 keys thing, and there was no beeping sound.
How would I know if the cpu and heatsink are attatched properly?
