Hello,

I am having a problem with my computer jumping in and out of standby on its own. I use start/turn off computer/Stand By to get it into stand by. I close the lid on my laptop and it starts up on its own several minutes later. It also goes back into standby on its own. I tried all of the obvious fixes including the settings within the power options. This just started happening 2 days ago. Has anyone out there ever experienced this? Any suggestions?

Any new hardware, including PCMCIA cards?

Some hardware can be set to "automatically bring computer out of standby". This is particularly applicable to network cards.

If you have not installed new hardware, try doing a system restore to a point before the issue started.

Hello, Ryan. Thanks for your reply. I used system restore and it fixed the problem. I feel stupid for not trying that earlier but this is the first time I have run System restore since installing service pack 3. Previous to that system restore never worked. Thanks for all your help.
