I am having problems with my computer for last few days. You can also see my post in hardware forum 'computer too dim at start' which i posted a few days back.
My problem is that the computer is freezing a lot. There is no time or event that I can associate with the freezing process but mostly it hangs within first 15 minutes of starting. Also there are no error messages.Everything freezes and I have to reboot by shutting the computer from power button. I have checked with adaware and spybot. Tracking cookies were detected and removed. Mostly when it hangs I am busy browsing the web but this time when it hanged I was at the desktop. I saw that a square shaped area appeared of about 1 inch size besides the icons on desktop. It was dotted and dots were of grey, black and white colours but in the centre a few purple coloured dots were also present. The moment it appeared the computer freezed. I have seen this square for two times now and each time the computer hanged.
I have also checked with avg antivirus but it reported no viruses.
Please help me what can I do with this. I dont even know if it is a hardware or software problem and how should I investigate or cure this.

Yes either that or your anti-virus has started conflicting with it. In low memory computers the video card will sometimes conflict with the ant-virus program over ram

You could try to free up some ram from the various programs or better yet add another 256MB.

did you try a system restore yet? My PC was really stalling using 100% resources, so I did a system restore back to when it was fine...VOILA...(touch wood) I'm back to good performance again, I just had to reinstall the criticals again.

BUT, it also sounds like you may have some Malware on your PC. Try the restore 1st and then check for spy & Adware

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks
