I only have a few things running in the back ground. When it happens i check my cpu % only 30 % is used, i have 512 ram.

eskiled:Without more detailed information, it's almost impossible to determine what your problem is. Freezes are caused by anything from bad drivers to bad RAM, and everything in between.
At the link below, you'll see over 50,000 hits on computer freezes.
Post back with more info and everyone here will see what can be done. Hang in there. 8-)

I have been having the same problem for the past week. I don't know what it is. I have done numerous Anti-Virus scans and other various scans and nothing shows up.
Programs freeze and while I try to end task them, they just get worse. After few minutes I have to power down to get the computer working properly again but that only lasts a little while.
If some one knows what might be causing this. Please! let us know and I really need to know what keeps causing my computer to freeze.
I have have 384MB RAM. Win XP Home Edition. XP1 and all those other updates. I also have an svchost using 15-20MB of RAM, don't know if I should be worried about that.
I also have a Yahoo! Internet Mail, in my Add/Remove program list that can't seem to be removed. I am starting to think that might be what is causing this freezing. So if some one knows something about either of these, Please tell us and myself.
