computer has no OS, says no system disk help!

Specs: none, unknown
computer was wiped clean, has no operating system in it. upon start up, tells me no system disk, and there is no utility partition.......all i wanna do is install an OS! what should i do? the only disks(cds) i have is the windows xp install disk but its not working. i am unable to access cmos and bios.....i am clueless with computers. i bought the tower from a yard sale . i will probably need step by step directions....

Why are you unable to get into BIOS?

Usually during boot there is something displayed on screen that tells you which key to press to enter setup. Sometimes it is DEL others are F1, F2, F10 or 11

If there is a splashscreen covering up the initial boot sequence you can close the splashscreen by hitting ESC. That will let you see the boot sequence.

Once you get there you need to alter the boot sequence to say CDROM first. Insert your XP Install disk, save changes in bios and re-start the system by hitting CTRL/ALT/DEL
