Computer hangs while trying to update at shut

May 4, 2011 at 16:14:03
Specs: Windows xp sp3, intel 2.2 1gb of ram
I was trying to shut down my HP desktop with 1gb memory running winxp. I got the message stating not to shut down or unplug the computer. It shows the progress of the updates being installed but it hangs and will not complete to shut down itself. Can anyone please give me some insight on what I could do to rectify this issue? Thanks.

lenville, can't tell you why it's doing that, but FWIW, Windows seems to have had shutdown problems since release. I use a standalone proggie for shutdown and have placed an icon shortcut to it in my quicklauch (for convenience). It's called 'Slawdog' and they claim it works with all versions of Windows. Know it works with XP Pro 3 'cuz that's what I run. Get it free @:
Maybe give it a try?
