Due to my norton subscription being up, i decided to uninstall the program. After doing so, I restart the computer. Now all the computer does is hang on the windows boot screen as if it was going to start up. How would an uninstall of norton make my boot up corrupt? I tried safe mode, no luck. I also tried last known good congifuration and still no luck. I have the discs that came with my computer to restore windows or repair it. I would prefer a repair, being that I have information that I cannot loose at all. A format is out of the questions. I was told it may be a bad boot file or something that a repair would be able to fix. Can anyone please please help me with this issue my computers been giving me? If anyone knows about the problems, could you please provide me with the details on how to go about fixing it. Any help appreciated. Thanks:)

linquist666, how did you uninstall Norton's? It hides files in obscure places and any method except the Norton's uninstaller will fail since the bodies are buried in unknown places and may not have the Norton's name on them. Norton's is called during bootup and a missing or corrupt file will throw a monkey wrench in the works. Possible you could boot from a disc without formatting? HTH. Ed in Texas.
