For some reason, my computer will freeze once in a while and when I look at my monitor, it shows a bunch of vertical colored lines and blocks. This only started happening after I installed a new geforce 4 ti4200 card. I do have the latest nvidia drivers.

Sounds like your power supply doesn't have enough juice for that high-end card.

Check your power managment and see what settings you have going. Sometimes when you have for instance your monitor or hard drive set to turn off at 15 mins of away time this can cause problems. Go to start/settings/control panel/power managment.
Hope this helps

Go to geforcefaq.com and look at the part about tape drive drivers... There can be conflicts with some drivers. Also make sure your graphics card is not sharing an IRQ with another device...

Hi,
I too, have the same video card. When I installed some of the new drivers I had much the same problem.

I was only able to use 30.82 and 30.87 with no problems.

You may want to remove those drivers, and reinstall one of the ones I mentioned above.

I get all my drivers at www.guru3d.com

Good Luck!

It can't be the power supply because I just bought a new enwin 350w and I do have the official 30.82 drivers from the nvidia site.

Have you tryed resetting you card? Is this a pci card or a agp card if it is a pci card and you have extra slot try moving the card to another slot. If it is a agp card is it a 2X or a 4x card and is your agp slot a 2x & A4x Or is the slot only a 2x if so you may have a card that is 4x only and it will not work in a 2x slot.
