Try enabling DMA on your DVD drive. Go to Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, select approriate IDE channel (Primary/Secondary?) on which your DVD drive is. Right click it and select Properties fromt he pop-up menu. Select Advanced Settings. Pick the right device (0/1?). Pull down the Transfer Mode box and select "DMA if available." You may have to reboot.
