Specs: Windows XP, Pentium 4/512MB
Purchased computer case/motherboard deal many years ago. Added a compatible chip, memory and hard drive. Installed Win98 and WinME and they work fine. Tried to install WinXP and it freezes every time. I turn it off and restart and it starts the install again but freezes everytime. Motherboard is a FIC VI13L. Running intel P4, 512MB memory and Maxtor 120GB hard drive.

Yes. Formated the drive to NTFS and it still freezes up running the XP install. i'm trying to go through the CMOS and see if something in that is causing the problem.

Try using a different HAL, when Setup says to press F6 for third party drivers, press F5 and choose Standard PC for the type of computer.
