Computer freezes every few minutes

Hi,
Recently my computer has started freezing every 5 or so minutes and unfreezing itself after a few seconds. When it unfreezes Winbar shows that the cpu was on max usage for those couple of seconds. I have got a virus checker which is kept up to date and frequently do scans. What do you think the problem could be? It is getting very annoying... :\

It appears you are infected with a worm
your not the only person to have this problem, in fact over the past few weeks its been quite a popular complaint
try scanning your hard drive with adaware 6 (free download from www.download.com)
or
if you have the option, scan your hard drive as a secondary drive with at least 2 anti virus softwares which are up to date. I recomend Norton anti virus.
if this doesnt help, browse this forum for other threads on 100% CPU usage, their is loads

Yuh I got norton 2004 up to date and it can't detect anything.. Ill run some adware detector proggies.. only reinstalled windows last week >:-[ you say from college.. you go to southport college?
