i have a problem, when i turn my computer on, i can't do anything for about one whole minute,(i can turn some programs on like IE,WMP, and access my drives from the cmd line) when i open myComputer, it can't find anything(has that searching magnifying glass), when i run programs like MMJB, Compuserve, 3dsMax, and most other, they don't work unless i wait for, like i said, about one minute. That's when the "Computer:" info shows up in the System Properties window, and everything starts to work normally. During that pause period, the cpu is only running at an average of about 10%, and i have no idea what's going on... PLEASE HELP.... i have: athlon 1.4GHz, but for some reason always runs at 1.06GHz(mb supports 1.4GHz), GeForce 2 MX/400, 512MB-pc 133 SD RAM, asus 133 motherboard...

Try turning off some of your services (start->run->msconfig) for starting up. I used to have problems where certain services will take forever...they just sit there (maybe they're waiting for something?) Like I disabled my zip drive services (I installed a zip drive, but didn't have any zip disk, so i hadn't fully set up everything yet)

try a defrag
