Can some provide some assistant please? My comptuer freezes on xp startup screen and restarts all together when I am recording audio in Sonar 4 (Studio Edition). This comptuer is brand spankin new. It has a p4 2.8, 1 gig ddr ram, asus p4s800d-x motherboard, and I am using a emu 1212m soundcard w/daughter card which i just added. I am wondering if the addtion of my sound card has something to do with these two annoying issues?? I cant really remember whether or not i had these issue before the card...they just started happening seemingly out of nowhere.

remove the cards and find out if the proble still exists.
Normally a hang during start-up is a sign that there is a hardware issue of some type.
It could be that the cards are conflicting with the onboard sound....In which case do you remember to turn it off in the BIOS.

I had originally disabled the onboard sound when i got the card. I just formatted my drive and upgraded to windows xp. My bios should have stayed the same however when i went in it was enabled again. I went ahead and disabled it and unloaded the driver assoicated with it. I hope this works!!!

Tried everything, nothing worked. I did uncheck the box that says "restart if system fail" so now when i record i just get drop outs instead. I check to see if there was an IRQ conflict with my soundcard and i found no conflict. I also disabled my wireless modem during recording and that seemed to help a little howver while starting up the computer still seem to be not quite right. It is still very slow in the beginning of windows xp startup screen. also programs get stuck or just stop responding. something just doesnt seem right, this system is supposed to be rock solid....
