Turn on your pc while pressing F8. On the Windows Advanced Options Menu, select Last Known Good Configuration and press Enter. If this doesn't work, follow these steps:
Turn on the pc while pressing f8. At the Windows Advanced Options Meny, select Safe Mode. When windows reports that your pc is running in Safe Mode, click No so you can use System Restore to restore the pc to an earlier configuration. In the System Restore window, make sure Restore My Computer To An earlier Time is selected and click Next. Now follow the onscreen instructions.

If this doesn't work, boot the pc with win xp cd, and at the startup screen press enter key. Press f8 to proceed. Now select R to repair. When setup has completed you should find all of your previuosly installed programs and settings are intact.

Hope this helps. Bye
