I have a Inspiron 9100 from Dell and my notebook is REALLY hot! Its so hot that it hurts to touch the bottom of it. My CPU is constantly at 90-100%. All I have open is my Browser and my computer is sooo slow. I am sure I got programs and junk running that I dont need. What can I do to clean up my computer? I want to edit my movies but it is impossible becouse it is soooo slow. Should i reformat my computer?????

Viruses and/or spyware.
You'll want spybot S&D and Adaware (at least) to get rid of spyware. For viruses I recommend NOD32.
Then start-control panel-add/remove programs and go down the list removing things you know for sure are redundant.
Also hit ctrl+alt+del and check your processes. Google every single one of them (after performing scans and removing redundant programs as it can be a long job). If the results suggest the process is dodgy hit an authoritive looking link and follow the instructions for removal.
GL.

I have Spybot And Af Aware I just dont use it enough i guess. I am going to run those. As for spyware what is NOD32? And what exactly do you meen with googling each process and deleting it. How should i google it?

NOD32 is a virus scanner that has (supposedly) never missed an in the wild virus since its release 7 years ago (ItW = officially recognised virus, I think).
Heh sorry, I'm used to using the word google as a verb. I mean simply go to www.google.com and type the process, letter for letter, into the search bar. Search, and look at the first few hits. If it's a bad process you'll soon know. Click on a result and try to find removal instructions.
Note you have to check each process individually and spell it accurately, including letters, numbers, punctuation, etc.

It's a laptop. It will still get warm, especially if sitting on a lap or some other absorbent surface. Is it under waranty?

Its not under a waarrenty. I have it on my lap usually. I thik maybe i should start putting it on a table or something. But I think that some of the problem also is Adware and things of that sort.

I think you are absolutely correct on all counts.

While it on a table, use something to tilt it up
a little, so the fan can exhaust air better.

Also do ctrl+alt+del to find out what process is
using all CPU. May be the following ??Explorer.exe Process Uses Many CPU Cycles When Windows Is Idle
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;317751

Explorer.exe Process Uses Many CPU Cycles When Windows Is Idle
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;317751what does that meen? And I usually have it on my lap or something and i do tilt it up for the fan to let air out.

Do you have the speedstep utility installed? If applicable it can be downloaded at web site.

Alteres your CPU usage and fan controller. Go to www.dell.com and go to support. You can enter your service tag # (on the machine) and find all drivers available for your operating system. If the speedstep is on the list, I would certainly give that a go. You will find other helpful things there, including a forum for specific Dell issues and models. Take advantage of it.

I do use the dell support but I thought the only thing I can do to cool down my computer is buy more fans I dident knwo I can adjust the speed and stuff like that.
