hello
I have two WinXP computers. They are networked together and everything works fine, except the printing. We can share files and the internet connection. The printer, an HP Laserjet 1000, is connected one of the WinXP computer and it works fine there locally. But when the other WinXP computer sends a file to print, it will not print. We can open the Printer from the control panel on any of the WinXP computers and see the file in the printer trying to print. So I guess that means the file makes it to the XP computer. But under status it says "Error- Printing". But the file will sit in the printer queue until it is canceled on the 1 WinXP computer. Unless the file is canceled, the XP system can't print anything. The printer is shared correctly (I think) because we were able to set it up on the other WINXP machine, it shows up there. But it just won't print. Any suggestions on this one?

How to Troubleshoot Network Printing Problems in Windows XP

i recently set up a network with my computers to. had the same problem as u (except im using a Canon S300) Basically what u have to do is re-build your network. run the network wizard on ur main comp, and choose the right options. It will install neccessary network data to ur comp. run the same network wizard on all the other computers, and choose the option etc. Uninstall ur printer from both computers. Install it to the main computer first, and choose the option that says u will be using this printer on a LAN. same thing for all the other comp. Go into control panel, choose printers, right click on ur printer (Copy 1) and go to properties. under sharing, make sure that "share this printer" is checked, and that the printer has a network name. Test ur printer by using one of the other computer to print something. for the printer, choose "name (Copy 1)" after doing all of this correctly, u should get it to work.
I DONT MAKE MISTAKES, I FIX YOURS!
