I just got Comcast cable internet, and now im trying to set up a network using a Netgear RP614v2 router. Theres gonna be 6 computers total, but fot now im using only 3. 1 computer though stops all the other comp from working on the net when I try to use the internet with it. I dont know if its conflicting IPs or what. You only get one IP with Comcast, and you gotta clone the MAC address or something to the router. This has got me pulling my hair out on. Thanks for any help you guys can give- Lindsey

Yeah, check the IP of the machines, make sure its not pulling something weird like the host address. Also may want to make sure that it is not sharing its internet connection either (or if its bridged)

You do not have to clone the MAC address to the router. I'm on Comcast myself and this is not something they require that you do. Also how are you going to hook up 6 computers to a 4 port router? You should go out and get an 8port 10/100 switch. They are cheap and require no configuration. Just plugh the cable modem into the router and router into the switch and all the systems into the switch.

But anywho. Make sure DHCP is enabled and all the other basics. You most likely have messed up a setting via trying to mess with the cloning. Reset the router to the factor settings and then see what happens.

Though I walk through the valley of Microsoft, I shall fear no OS for skills are with me

Most ISP's (CABLE PROVIDERS) only give IP numbers to MAC addresses. The cable modem handles this so with a home gateway/router you need to clone a MAC address from one of your NIC cards to the gateway/router.

Simple easy and essential to working.
