Comment:

For some reason, every time I download a ZIP file, and attempt to open it using Windows XP Compressed Folders, I get this error:

The Compressed (zipped) Folder is invalid or corrupted.

I found this fix on support.microsoft.com:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;308090

But it doesn't seem to fix the problem....Anyone have any ideas on why this is occurring or how to fix it?

I know I can download another program in order to open the file....that's not the point. I am trying to figure out WHY this error is occurring and how to fix it, because I would like to utilize this feature in XP.

"....attempt to open it using Windows XP Compressed Folders "

How are you trying to Open the .zip File?

If you just Doubleclick it then it should Open (unzip)into a separate Folder

Does that not happen?

Unless the Downloaded File is corrupt - which is what the Error is suggesting perhaps??

I am just clicking on the file to open it....I was thinking that the file might just be corrupt as well.

To test that, I downloaded the SAME file to a different computer (and it worked find). And I downloaded multiple zip files and NONE of them worked. So something must be wrong here. And plus, the Microsoft Knowledgebase obviously knows of the problem, because that first link that I posted up above, talks about the EXACT problem I am having.
