Comment:

Since I last upated the laptop, when I click on the IE short cut in the Quich Launch tray, IE doesn't open but I'll see and instace of IEXPLORE.exe in Task Man for each time I click it. Still using IE v6 BTW. Also The IE icon on the Desktop displays a Compatibility Mode message before it opens and sometimes it freezes for a minute or two while im using it.

I did all the same updates on my PC which has IE 7 and have not had any problems.an anyne tell me how to correct this/

TIA

Have you re-installed Windows or replaced the hard drive?

neither. HD is original, and I reinstalled the OS a year ago. this problem ocurred since I last updated it. The only other thing I did was to add a GB of ram.

What exactly did you do to "update" it? Have you tried running System Restore to a point before you "updated" it?

I used windows update. i did most updates except sp3 and a few others. I did all the same updates on my desktop with out problems. I haven't tried sys restore, but wouldn't that undo the updates?
