CompaqCu304nr Unable to complete install

Specs: Windows XP
Unable to install addtional drivers at F6 stage of install. Flash Drive not recognized.
No Mass Storage devices recognized by laptop.

Additionally "your computers startup program cannot gain access to the disk containing the partition or free space you chose." "This message may indicate a problem with the CMOS drive-type settings."

Drive has been tested in another laptop and works. XP runs on another laptop.
When attemtpting to boot on this unit there is a brief flash of xp screen and then reboots contstantly.

pressing F6 during XP install is to enable you to install SATA drivers for the SATA controller to which the hard drive is connected. XP setup expects to find the drivers on a floppy disk when you press F6.

If you don't have a floppy disk drive I don't know how to deal with that.

In the Boot Order I have USB Floppy/cd/dvd Drvie/Notebook Hard Drive
The other options are usb diskette/usb hard drive I don't usually work on Compaq laptops so this is a new one for me . Thanks for any info-
