Comment:

I am trying to restore a Compaq computer to its original settings using the Restore CD that came with it. I reboot with CD in drive and get the menu screen. I select #4, Restore Factory Settings and then the CD tray opens and a message says to remove all CDs and disks. I do and the the computer boots back into Windows XP. It doesn't seem to be restoring, because it never asks me if I am ready to lose all my data on my hard drive and doesn't take any time.

I belive there is (2) cd's
you need to boot from the first cd.

I am trying to remember from memory
but it should just prompt you if you want to resore, and you will lose all data.
that should be it.

should take about an hour and half.

may need to go to the compaq web site to
get more information.
