Compaq CD-R and Windows XP

I'm running XP on my Compaq 7478 and it won't recognize my cd burner. Everything I've tried has not worked, including a so called cd burner update from Microsoft. Any suggestions? Please!!!!

i've got the same problem but with a plextor scsi burner. if u do find a solution please tell me aswell if i find one i will tell u tanks bye bye

Okay telling them to go get another burner isn't really going to help them, try updating the drivers for them.

Use regedit to remove the keys named UpperFilter and LowerFilter from: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} try that it worked for me
