Hello all,

I went to a site called & my computer froze for about 30 seconds to a minute upon entering the site.

Once it unfroze, advertisements about my computer being infected started to pop out(i remember a stolen identity theft pop up) of nowhere shortly after(with internet explorer) & sometimes there would be 5 popups in a minute, then it would just die out for a while.

From here I already couldn't open my task manager so I assumed I've been attacked by a virus.

I opened Malware Anti bytes hoping to delete the virus but the last time I updated it was a few months ago so I had updated it, malware anti bytes asked me to restart the computer so that's what I did, and now my computer can't get past the windows loading screen & booting in safe mode, last known good configuration, start windows normally & any other choices leads me to the same blue screen which flashes for less than a second. here is a photo of the blue screen error:

and here's a photo of the screen when i start the computer

my question is, is there a way to fix this? if not, can i still retrieve the data? thanks in advance

this seems to be a virus...please try to boot in safe mode instead of normal boot...

I popped the Windows Home Edition CD into the laptop & I have the choice to either repair or setup; both are failing to execute because of this error:

Setup did not find any hard disk installed in your computer. Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected.

Any help is be greatly appreciated

oops...that`s NOT good...go to BIOS and make sure the hard drive is recognized...also reseat the IDE and Power hard disk cable...

If the HDD recognized, you might need to install RAID drivers...try pressing F6 while starting the setup...

I went to BIOS & this is what it looks like, is my hard drive recognized?

I forgot to mention this is taking place on a laptop, HP Pavilion dv5000 so I am unable to follow your instructions when it comes to reseating the IDE & power hard disk cable(or can I?)

I also went over to the diagnostic tab & performed a Primary Hard Disk Self Test but i'm not sure if it did anything

Thanks again

I can`t see IDE channels in BIOS at all...there is something I am missing here...

Try reseting BIOS settings --- you may have messed up something...

...also go to the BIOS setup, & change the disk controller setting from AHCI to IDE. might worth the try.
