After setup copys the install files the system reboots then i choose "windows XP install" and it loads the windows setup and shows a booting screen with a progress bar thats works fine but after that I get a black screen (the monitor led does not blink as if somthing was wrong)
also i have tryed a clean install and an upgrade and it did this both timesSystem:
MB: Abit KT7A (not with raid)
CPU: AMD Athlon 1ghz 100mz bus
Ram: 256mb pc-133
Sound: SB audioPCI
Video: power color geforce2 mx400 (64mb)*if anyone can help me plz contact me or post somthing here!

also i know this cd works cuz i used it on my other comp and it worked fine the only dif between my comp and the other one is the Mother board, sound card, and video card

I just found your post because I was searching the web looking for answers to the same problem.
Get rid of the "Power Color" video card. It is causing the hang. I swapped it out and used an ATI video card and the XP install worked great.
Good luck.

I did it! :) I turned off power saving settings in bios and now everything is OK. Try this, and if it works, call me Master :)

I have the same problem.
MB: Abit KT7A 1.0
CPU: AMD Duron 850mhz 100mz bus
Ram: 256mb pc-133
Sound: Cs4237b
Video: UnKnown Geforce2 mx400 (64mb)I will try the power saving settings.

I'm having the same problem during install. I've disconnected my slave drive, my burner, my network card, modem, disabled USB's, onboard serial 2, game port; disabled. I've fdisked & fdisk/mbr a number of times. I even did a low-level format--still no go. Tried an install from CD Rom as well as from \I386, ALL TIMES it hangs. I've tried install of both FAT 32 and NT--same problem, system hangs on install usually at the 39 minute mark. I don't know what more I can disconnect or disable.
SYS:
