My command.com file is missing. (After my son did some questionable downloading.) I'm running WinXP Pro on a Pentium III with 256k ram. I do not think I have System 32.
For what it's worth, I did follow some directions I found on a search here, but it showed the file being copied into a System 32 folder. I do not have a System 32 folder. (I upgraded XP from WinME quite some time ago. This is a new problem.)
I appreciate anyone's advice.

First, it would seem odd to not have a system32 "folder" [directory].
If you ran this fix:
and it said it was copying command.com, it probably did.
Usually [usually] you would not use command.com in the normal course of things. Are you getting a msg that says command.com is needed?
Or what?
If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.M2

Thanks, everyone.
I ran the XP-Fix link and it says all the missings files were added to run Virtual Tour (whatever that is).
Still, when I do a search for command.com, it isn't found.
Is it possible something nefarious has happened to delete my System 32 directory?
Other symptoms are:
1) Can't Control/Alt/Delete (I can in selective start-up, though)
2) Can't bring up cmd without typing cmd.exe
3) Can't bring up regedit without typing regedit.exe.Plus, I tried several different dates to restore and my system was unable to be restored.
My config.nt and autoexec.nt files are both located in a directory called repair. (C:\WINDOWS\repair)

Any more suggestions or ideas? Many thanks!
