Code 10 Device Will Not Start?

I have this unique soundcard and I have the correct drivers which work under XP. When I install the drivers, all the parts of the soundcard are found and installed correctly except the most important one and I get a Code 10 device will not start error. There is nothing on the manufacturer's website about this. Does this mean there is a resource conflict? The only thing that the manufacturer's website mentioned was that there may be problem's if the videocard and the soundcard share the same IRQ which in my case they do, IRQ 9. After researching however on this message board, I have discovered that it is not so easy to manually change an IRQ in XP due to the ACPI function. I suppose I will try changing slots as some on this board have mentioned in hopes that XP will assign a different IRQ. Anyone have any more suggestions? The soundcard is a Mark of the Unicorn soundcard which is a specialized soundcard used in producing music. Thanks for any help.

I had a similar problem. It turned out I had left my old sound card in and it was getting assigned and IRQ. I disabled it thru the Device Manager and re-booted to solve the problem.

You can also solve the IRQ conflicts by disabling the devices (in the BIOS) that you are not using. like the parallel ports,USB or the serial ports.By doing this you conserve the resources.
When you try out new slots place the sound card in the slot furthest away from the PCI(video card)/AGP slot. This is because the slots next to ecah other tnd to share the IRQ's.
