From two different locations/pcs I am getting the same results at Computing.net

Banner page loads and nothing else comes up.
Banner is very busy. Status bar says "done" but either the list of posts or the post to be reviewed don't come up.

Sometimes, a about 30 seconds, the post or list may come up.

Posting a response can take even longer.
Sometimes things work as normal

DSL for one connection
Cable of the other
already tried deleting the computing.net cookies

Anyone else having this happen?

Hi,

I am aware of this issue. Would everyone who is having problems please use the "Contact Us" form at the bottom of this page. That way, the guy who is supposed to fix it sees its not only me having the problem, and can get some idea of the breadth.

I've been having the same problem for DAYS!!

CN & Tom's websites are the only two sites on the net that I frequent that exhibited identical behaviors. I really dislike wasting my time waiting for the page to load. It's really getting on my nerves - sorry to say - and now my patience is running very thin. I have used the Contact Us link. Whether it will really do any good remains to be seen.

Justin I would be happy to use the "contact us" button.

Actually with the slowness I have been answering 4(there) to 1(here) posts at other forums. All caught up at Windows IT Pro :-)

Guys,

You don't know the arguments I've been going through to get this problem fixed. The more people who use the contact us form and let people know, the faster I think it will get fixed. Needless to say I know about the problem. I 100% agree with you guys. I am so sorry, but right now, I'm not able to convince people to fix this. That's why I need your help.

Especially let them know its happening on the other Tom's sites too (like Tom's Hardware).

BTW,

Don't just report it once, continue to report it every time there is a problem. Trust me, I do that too.

So Justin, it seems that, since the merger, you have effectively lost control of computing.net. In the old days, if we reported a problem, you were on it, and it got fixed.

Please let us know if you found someone's advice to be helpful.

Well,

That's not entirely true. I never had the ability to fix problems with advertising. Before the merger, it was the ad brokers who I had to contact. This time its internal. However, if anything goes wrong specific to the site itself, I still have 100% control. Its just this problem I don't.

I haven't any problems whatsoever. I wonder if it's because I am using Admuncher.

I don't have any problems.

I'm using IE 7 on Windows XP here at work. No issues.

IE 6 on Windows 2000 at home. No issues.

Medion MIM 2080
Toshiba T2130CT
Macintosh Performa 450

All working wonderfully.

Just did a test. I am on dialup. With ad muncher filtering turned off and refreshing this post took the page about 4 and half minutes to finish loading. With filtering turned back on a refresh took about 34 seconds. With dialup ad muncher for me is a must.

When I used IE7Pro add-on (which cleared the ads) the problem went away.

Firefox (with Adblock) has been fine.

There is therefore little doubt in my mind that the problem is tied up with a change in advertising techniques.

some other bloke...
