Comment:

After installing a new P4 processor I get this error message at bootup : " CPU has changed re -enter CPU settings in the CMOS .Press F1 to continue , del to enter bios "
I enter the Bios settings but when I try to save the system hangs and won't restart ( although the settings are saved). I replaced the battery but the same happens . Any ideas ?

What motherboard is it?

Are you sure you have set the BIOS to the correct CPU setting? The hanging usually happens because the CPU setting is not right.

Your current BIOS version may not support the CPU you are using. It may be that you need a BIOS upgrade for the CPU you are trying to use.

You could try to use the default or optimum BIOS settings and see where that gets you. It should work if your CPU is supported by the current BIOS.

Hope it helps.

If the above doesn't work.. Check your Cmos battery.

Pull it out. Take a Q-tip and use it with some alcohol. Not dripping wet but moist.. Clean the battery contact, and the battery. Could be micro corrosion cause it to loose memory.
