hi! I am quite shock when opening my computer today! When a loaded my computer, it shows some error about CMOS then I hold my the power to shut it down, then I open my computer again! All is then ok but when I reach windows, the time is reset to january 1 2002! I then went to cmos, and it ask for password??? Shocking!! How can I be able to use windows if there is a cmos password??

Any ideas??? Is I infected by virus on CMOS or wat? Currently I can't access CMOS except running windows as whenever I access CMOS, a password is prompt!

Reset your BIOS. That should eliminate your password.

You may need a new MOBO battery.

Your BIOS is corrupted and I suspect that your CMOS battery is bad.

What laptop do you have?

Corrupted? I am not too sure but all I know is the CMOS battery is bad! HAHa!

My notebook is Compaq Presario 2540AP!

I have just used cmospwd program to kill the password but not working! May I know whether this program got any side effect to my computer or left any files on my pc?

Thx

This could all be explained by a corrupted BIOS.

Did you follow their advice and change your CMOS battery?
