Cmos Erros after change battery

Specs: Windows XP
When i start my PC the Cmos Error is display on Bios and prompt me F1 key or F2 key.
After that i try to change the internal battery.But so bad after i change it few days, it became same problem.I also didn't knew why?
Can anybody help me?
Is any other hardware make it like this?
All settings inside is setting wrong.

After changing the battery did you go into the BIOS set-up and reset the settings, especially the time.

If not you should do this as a matter of routine when changing the CMOS battery. If you do not know the setting the should be a default setting which, while may not be the best, should get you up and running.
