I foolishly removed my C-media AC97 in a cleaning frenzy and also from my recycle bin. I have made some attempt on the web and contacted microsoft to no avail. Any help getting my sound back would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

You can probably remove the disabled device from Device Manager and reboot. WinXP probably has drivers for that sound chip. If that dowsn't work then try downloading them.
