ok after removing this stupid virus i got from limewire....it would open up by itself after i closed it again and again....the virus was called winupdates.exe or something like that....well now i cant seem to be able to run my cmd and regedit command at the start/run.....whenever i type those two commands a dos thing pops up for a second then disappears....how do i fix this??..

Tommie, Go to the link below and download & run the Fixsewn.inf file. If you can't access the Internet with the problem computer use another computer to download the Fixswen.inf file onto a floppy disk or CD. Transfer the floppy disk or CD to the problem computer then save the fixswen.inf file to your local hard disk, right-click on the file and choose install. Hopefully whatever screwed with the file associations didn't screw up the .inf file association. Sounds like you still have some sort of virus. I'd do another virus scan and make sure the system is completely clean. Soylent Green is PEOPLE!!!

i scanned with norton 2006 deleted 2 virus used sfc/scannow and still i cant use regedit and cmd.com... i can use internet without problem.. peace

I had the same problem just after installing limewire, cmd.com is a fake. Should be cmd.exe, I have a version in my Windows folder but cant work out how to delete cmd.com and swap cmd.exe, in its place.

I used lavasoft ad-aware which found all the .com files left by the worm..worked brilliantly and free.
