How badly does it change ? like 1-2 minutes behind ? or worse ? because if it is only a little that could be a cmos battery issue.. or you could use a program that adjust the clock automatically from time to time. There are tons of them available.

Hi, There is small cell inside the CPU called as CMOS battery. When that battery discharges it creates problem with system date/time.You will have to change that battery to fix the issue.

some people use incorrectly use CPU to mean the entire box that everything plugs into. More correctly the CPU is just one chip mounted on the motherboard inside the box.
If the clock changes time after the computer boots, then it is not going to be the CMOS battery. Once the computer boots the CMOS clock takes no further part in the proceedings. It is only read during the boot process. if this is the case it could be conflicting programmes trying to update the clock.
If the time changes every time you boot then it is the CMOS battery mounted on the motherboard.

XP HAS A BUILT IN TIME UPDATER> IT WILL UPDATE THE CLOCK WHEN ONLINE ALL BY IT"S LONESOME. Cool huh? To get to the function Right click on the clock in the tray. Select> Adjust date/time Select> Internet time If the source for the updates is> time.windows.com< then leave it be. That time source works, the other don't. Click apply then ok and leave it alone.

Unfortunately the built in clock update in Windows XP only updates the clock once a week by default. There is a way to change the update period, I know I have done it, but for the life of can't remember how.
