Hi,
I just got an IBM Pc with WinXP preinstalled. I connect to a novel netware running server. Installed the following:
1. client for netware networks
2. client for microsoft networks
3. NWLink NetBios
4. NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBios Compatible transport protocol
5. Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

I am able to view all the MS shared connections, but am unable to connect to my login on the netware server. On looking up the event view alarms, I get "The Microsoft Client Service for NetWare redirector has timed out one or more requests to P4." alarm.
Can somebody help me?
Grateful,
Nazmi

Oh boy. First thing. Go in and UNinstall all that junk except the MS Client and TCP/IP. Then reboot and make sure things are working. Then go out to Novell's website and download their 4.83 client and install that. Then after you set the correct items in Novell you should be able to log onto the Novell network....

Hi,
I forgot to mention in the earlier mail. The novel server is running on 4.11 version. I also have a local web server (through IIS) and ftp
server running on my WinxXP machine.
I tried all the stuff that Lucid told me...
I downloaded the 4.83 client upgrade and installed it after removing all the "junk".
But I am still unable to connect to my novel server.

Hi, if anybody is interested. The problem is finally resolved.
What I did was in NetBios Compatibility link, the frame type was set as "auto Detect". After I changed it to "Ethernet 802.3" type, the problem got resolved. I did not need to upgrade any clients.
Lucid, thanks for helping me
