what is the best way to clean the insides of a computer? i have a 'megnetic' duster that i use to clean around the house. i was tempted to use it but i thought using it may build up static electricity. any suggestions on this? thanks.

The best way is to blow them out with an air compressor. I have one mounted in my store and I blow out customers computers all day with it. It makes it a lot easier and I think it's about the safest also. You can blow out fans, heat sinks, and inside floppy and CD drives. If you don't have a compressor available, use canned air, but keep it upright to avoid moisture.

As you said, vaccuums can be dangerous because of the static charges that can build up

Years ago I used to have a friendly local garage (auto repair shop) who would let me use their compressor and I'd just take it in there every 6 months and give it a blast!

A small paint brush can also be used to gently loosen encrusted dust before using canned air.
