I'm re-loading my friend's computer after a total crash. I did a full zero fill with Seagate 2003 Disc Wizard. Then, because all they had was an upgrade version of XP, I used a copy of the full Windows 2000 to verify authorization. That worked just fine. During installation/copy of XP files, I got 3 errors. All three files were ttf's. I tried to retry, but I got the same error message. 2 of the three were palab.tff & palabi.tff. I cannot recall the third version. Will this affect the total installation, or can I get by until I can download sp2? If I have to, I'll halt things and put Windows 2k on, and then use the upgrade, but I'd prefer not to. Any thoughts folks? Also, if downloading sp2 (version is sp1) doesn't work, can I replace them when I install Office XP? They have a full version of it, but have never installed it.

The two ttf files you mentioned should not affect the OS installation. I doubt the "un-recalled" ttf would create a problem.
My quick 2 cents.....you should be "good to go", as far as the OS installation goes.

Shouldn't be a problem. ttf files are True Type Fonts. You will manage quite well with a few font files missing.

But - any problems during an XP install can indicate bad hardware (might just be a scratched/dirty install disk or not 100% optical drive of course). You just said 'total crash' at the top - what actually happened - I'm just wondering if you have something going bad (eg RAM, motherboard...) - because if it is hardware, you'll be encountering new problems shortly.
