I get choppy sound which has only occurred since I installed a second disk drive. Primary is a 6Gb which is (obviously) my C: drive, secondary is a 40Gb which holds all my data plus programs. Before XP I had the same problem when I installed Windows 98SE and Windows ME. I had hoped XP would solve. Have checked all interrupts - ok, drivers etc and all the latest available. Local PC supplier thought might have something to do with cables used to connect disk drives? He even installed a new sound card but same problem occurred. Anyone with any ideas?

does the sound still seem choppy if you mute the CD-ROM volume using the volume control applet?

try resetting the enable digital audio output for cdrom drive, if checked uncheck if unchecked check it. also check the windows update about clicking sound from speakers,p.s. you really have little need for two, why not eliminate the 6 gig and partition the 40 gig into 3 or 4 partitions
