Chkdsk always fails?

Comment:
My Chkdsk fails at the same point all the time and now my computer constantly reboots. Cannot do anything for morne thhan a minute before it reboots.
When doing chkdsk it says.....:
Chkdsk verifying indexes (stage 2 of 3). Correcting Error in index $0 for file 25 Sorting Index $0 in file 25
Chkdsk never gets past file 25. It always fails and says it is unable to recover something.
PLEASE HELP. I do not think my hard drive has gone bad.

Harddrive may not be bad, but a Sector on the HDD can be bad where the file resides. Therefore that file appears to be unrecoverable.
I have no further solution at the moment. Watch for help from others.
Are you doing CHKDSK /r That should repair it.

Try running the drive manufacturer's diagnostic - usually available from their site. As well as telling you if the drive is damaged/dying etc it can usually perform some repairs - so may be able to fix your problem.

When I see a drive start to show errors it is not worth the effort to try and resurrect it. Most of the drives that I see users try and recertify fail shortly after the rebuild/recertify. If a drive has data that is critical then do not try using it to keep saving data.
