due to some problems with bad-ram and partitionmagic i had an entire drive's worth of files become corrupt. i ran chkdsk and it recovered ALL of the files as .chk . and i've verified that at least some of these files are still fine by identifying them by their size and changing the extension to what i think it would be. the problem is there are over 20,000 of these files, and some of their extensions are not so obvious. i've ran chkdsk, norton, etc. to see if they could do anything to make it easier, but with no luck. does anyone know of a program that can figure out what the file extensions are, at least for the more common file extension?
any help would be GREATLY appreciated. otherwise its all by myself using trial and error on every single file.
