When performing an upgrade from win98 to Xp pro. the process was smooth except when it was booting XP for the first time I received this message: "stop: c0000221{bad image checksum} the image imagehlp.dll is possibly currrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum" I have no clue what this means and I need anybody's input.

Likely either thare was a read / write error when that file was copied from CD to HD.
Or there's a memory or other hardware inadequacy which effects XP but did not bother 98.
Somewhere there's a link to a "XP hardware compliance" site, but I don't have it.
You can try booting on a floppy and running scandisk.
Then get DOCMOM or MEMTEST86 and test the memory.

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.
